Launching of Ghana highlife music in Melrose Arch
Ghana highlife music was launched in conjunction with the 55th Ghana Independence Anniversary when Ghanaian women organization club called OBAASIMA organized a gala dinner for the Ghanaian diplomats based in South Africa.
This is a Celebration of Ghanaian Common Heritage which was held on Friday, 9 March 2012 at Melrose Arch in Johannesburg. This event was sponsored by Absa Bank, South African Airways and Media Partner: The Expatriate Magazine.
The Ghana Awake compilation was officially introduced to his Excellency, The High Commissioner of Ghana and the CEO of Anglo Gold Ashanti, Sir Sam Jonah by the man in charge of West African music at Sheer Group Mr. Seidu Iddrisu.
The Remarks was held by H. E Ghana High Commissioner, a message from ABSA’s CEO, a message from SAA CEO, and lastly a message from Expatriate Magazine CEO. The major point that was emphasized by the High Commissioner was the hard work of the South African Government in supporting foreign nations based here in South Africa. He also didn’t forget the local music industry of South Africa for accepting Ghana highlife music into this beautiful country. He lastly saluted the Sheer Publishing crew for the challenge they chose to take, by releasing the album GHANA AWAKE COMPILATION.
The Ghana Awake music cd compilation was the music that played during the proceedings of the evening.
